Considered an entertainer’s entertainer, Dennis
Whitty has been energizing crowds with his inspired performances for
over twenty years. Armed with an acoustic guitar, a rich, powerful
and sensitive voice, a mix of original material from his newly released
CD and beloved and spirited cover tunes, Dennis never fails to deliver.
Born and raised in the Niagara Peninsula, Dennis began honing his performing
skills working with party bands and peers in his native area before
venturing off as a solo artist first in Toronto and then London and
finally, residing in the Ottawa Valley. It was here that he found a
niche for his unique talents, often performing at up to five different
venues in any given week.
Within a year of moving to Ottawa he was invited
to perform in Nashville, recorded his first single, and formed a country-rock
band, Dennis Whitty and Wheatstone Bridge. This lead to extensive cross
Canada road tours spanning more a decade.
Dennis has a natural rapport and stage presence that easily draws the
audience into a party and festive mood while retaining a comfortable
and personal atmosphere. He seamlessly delivers a blend of classic and
modern country and country-rock music commanding the ability to transcend
genres, genders, and age barriers.
Notoriety to consistently deliver his hand-clapping, foot-stomping, performances
to large crowds in venues like The National Capital exhibition, the Renfrew
and Perth fairs, and repeat performances at the Gatineau Clog and other
major jamborees and events, are testament to the talents of this guitar-slinging
cowboy.
Accompanied by a world-class band, including guitar, bass, drums, fiddle,
steel, and keyboards, The Dennis Whitty Band features some of Canada’s
most endeared and talented musicians. They provide full, rich and sometimes
haunting harmonies easily likening to artists like Alabama, The Eagles
and Diamond Rio.
As an opening, closing, feature act, or dance show, The Dennis Whitty
Band will never fall short of their goal to always leaving the crowds
anxious for more.
Besides his recently released debut full-length CD, Sidetracked, Dennis
has been busy developing a live entertainment website, www.cangig.ca, to
help profile Canadian bands and musicians.
Stay tuned,
Dennis
